Limitations for the search

  • The words “OR” and “AND” would be treated as any other keywords.
  • Capitalization is irrelevant.
  • Search phrases are not recognized - all keywords are searched separately, as determined by whitespace.
    • Example: National Environmental Policy Act - returns laws with all four words somewhere in the fulltext fields.
  • Except that keywords containing spaces may be quoted, effectively allowing a phrase.
    • Example: "National Environmental Policy Act" - returns laws with this phrase.
  • Negation of keywords is allowed, by using a "-".
    • Example: "National Environmental Policy Act" -NEPA - returns laws which contain the exact keyword as the example above, but NEPA is not found in any of the fulltext fields.
    • Example: National Environmental Policy Act -NEPA - returns laws where all four of the first words must be found, but NEPA must not be found.
